Helping children understand emotions, behaviour and the brain

The Brain Friends™ are a group of friendly characters who help children understand what’s happening in their brain and body when they feel big emotions. Each character represents a different part of the brain, and together they help children learn how to feel safe, manage their emotions, build strong relationships, and develop healthy thinking habits.

Designed with children in mind, especially those who are sensitive, neurodivergent or struggle with regulation- The Brain Friends™ turn complex brain science into simple, relatable stories.

Meet The Brain Friends™

🦎 Lenny LizardThe Safety Seeker

Lenny lives in the survival part of the brain. He looks out for danger and helps us stay safe — but sometimes he overreacts when we feel stressed or overwhelmed. Lenny teaches children how to listen to their body and use tools to feel calm and safe again.

🐵 Mylo MonkeyThe Emotion Explorer

Mylo helps us notice and name our feelings. He swings between big feelings and needs support to slow down and feel understood. Mylo teaches children to recognise emotions and express them in safe ways.

🦉 Orla OwlThe Wise Thinker

Orla represents the thinking brain. She helps us focus, learn, make decisions and solve problems. When Lenny and Mylo are calm, Orla can do her best work. Orla helps children pause, reflect and make good choices.

🧠 Brilliant BrainThe Whole Brain in Balance

Brilliant Brain appears when all the Brain Friends are working together. It represents a regulated, connected, and confident state where children can thrive. Brilliant Brain reminds us that every brain is different — and every brain is brilliant in its own way.
